I Have a 1 Month Old!

I CAN NOT believe I have a 1 month old!
I still feel like we just were released from the hospital! Emma has grown a lot though! We had to take her into the doctor today because she was throwing up 2-3 times a day (poor baby)! Turns out she has reflux. So we just have to give her smaller feedings more frequently aka say goodbye to getting her to sleep through the night anytime soon! And we just need to prop her up when ever we lay her down. We can't lay her flat. And burp her before feedings, in the middle, after, and 5-10 minutes after that.
But! She is gaining weight! She is now up to 8 lbs 5 oz. 2 pounds to the ounce since we were released from the hospital! She's growing so fast! Here's a picture to measure her growth that I stole from my cousin Janette (thanks!).

Then we tried sending a video to my brother, but it was too big, so I'll just post it here. Just pretend she's saying "hi" to everyone, instead of just "uncle Davis."

(When I'm laughing, its because she's "tooting" at the moment)

Enjoy!

More Pictures

I realize I just post pictures lately...but when family doesn't live close by and your mom says she "lives for pictures" what else can you do? So here are some more pictures...eventually I can start writing stuff about the cute things Emma does, but until she does more than sleep and eat...you get pictures.

She was wide awake when I was changing her diaper (which doesn't usually happen until you start wiping her...THEN she wakes up). She looks a little startled here.

And I'm going so say she's waving here..."hi!"
Then today we took her to church (just Sacrament) but you have to dress a baby up for church! So we found a cute little dress at D.I. (brand new, with tags! $3!) and it actually fit! (unlike last week)Sorry...she didn't wake up when we put it on, and she didn't wake up when we took it off...so you get her sleeping...and with "the plug." :)

And finally, people have been saying Emma is starting to look like me...which I agree. :) When I'm holding her and looking at her I can see some of me...especially since looking at my baby picture. But this day I was holding her trying to keep her awake and definitely saw Tyler's baby picture!

Do you see it? I guess when she looks drunk (I mean tired!) she looks like Tyler.

I'm Thinking...

We caught her the other day "thinking." At least that's what we call this pose!

Hope you enjoy!

3 Weeks Old!

Goodness time flies when you have a baby. It seemed like FOREVER getting her here, but now that she's here you blink and she's 3 weeks! They have been a fun 3 weeks. This was our first week without Grandma! And...we survived. But of course she decided to get a little more difficult once it was just us!
She continues to pee on us...I got peed AND squirted on the other night...which was also the night she let me have about 3-4 hours of sleep...TOTAL! Last night was better (thank goodness). She's lucky she's so cute. :)
Has she grown? I believe so.

The day we brought her home and Today at 3 weeks

We got a little video camera and I had a little fun this morning. Not the most exciting video but you can at least see how cute she is!

And...the classic Emma face. She likes the "o" position for some reason! We we think its cute!

And yes...I do plan on cutting her fingernails today. She did that during nap time :( And then threw up all of this outfit...which she oft does when wearing this one! :(

Innocent? I think not!

Do you see this?

Do you see this face?
She is not as innocent as she looks. Trust me.

Last night was a very interesting night for us! Grandma May left yesterday and of course Emma chooses the night after she leaves to be the most difficult! Here's our series of events...
First she decided to wake every hour to hour and a half (instead of her usual 3-4 hours!)
Then at her 3:00am feeding I changed her diaper, the minute I pick her back up...SQUIRT! All I have to say is at least she waited until the diaper was back on.
So after the second diaper change and a finished feeding I tried burping her. First off, Emma has a hard time burping, so after a few minutes I decided to lay down and I laid her on my chest and tried to burp her that way (you know where this is going, don't you?). After about 2 minutes...she burped!...but there was more than just air that came out of her mouth! Yup! A portion of what she just ate came up too! All over me! I had it in my hair (and not just a little), and running down my neck and chest. So I handed her over to Daddy and took a shower...at 4:00 in the morning! At least I didn't have to share any hot water!
Then this morning Daddy changed her diaper...this time she didn't wait for the new diaper. She just waited for him to take the diaper off to let loose! At least it wasn't #2!
So...needless to say, I got about 4 hours of sleep last night! Looking forward to the weekends to sleep doesn't exist any more. But...she's still worth it. She's lucky she's so cute!

We Have a 2 Week Old!

Our cute baby girl is now 2 weeks old! Can you believe it? I can't! We took her to the doctor today and everything is going great! She's still a petite little thing! She's back up to her birth weight +1 oz. She's grown a quarter of an inch...and her umbilical cord is FINALLY off! (The doctor accidentally took it off...at least that's what he said) Here are some cute pictures of our little princess. She's SO cute (of course I'm a little biased, but hey I'm her mom)

This isn't an official 2 week, but I had to show it...she just loves her binky! Can't you tell?

THESE are official 2 week pictures. She's so cute!

She loves her swing...and so does mommy!

This is one of my favorites. I didn't even pose her! She did it all on her own! She's already photogenic!

At 2 weeks she's managed to make cute and funny faces, not cry so much when she's getting a bath or her diaper is being changed (...however; we still need to work on her not peeing on us when we change her!) let some pretty big and loud ones (if you know what I mean), earn the nickname "hiccup" since she gets them about 3-4 times a day (poor baby), and just be stinkin' cute! We love our little girl. :)

Meet the Grandparents

This past week Emma has met all of her grandparents, aunts, uncles (minus Davis - who is unavoidably detained until June) and cousins. Everyone has fallen in love with her! (who wouldn't though!) Here are some pictures (because pictures are so fun!)

Grandma Anderson
Grandpa Anderson, Kaylee, Ashton and Emma

Grandpa, Uncle Deric, Grandma, Aunt Katie and Daddy

Aunt Jackie

Grandpa May

Grandma May

She loves her family. So far she's only peed on Mom and Dad, and spit up on Mom...so everyone else - consider yourself loved. :)

1 Week Old

Dear Emma,
Today you are one week old! And look how cute you are! We love dressing you up and watching your cute little expressions! In your one week of life you have managed to have plenty of yucky diapers, sleep a little more (last night you only woke up once! Mommy thanks you for that!) and...

stolen Daddy's heart...and everyone else's too!
We love you!

"Do You Understand Flower?"

This picture is for Aunt Jackie...who always said she'd call the baby "Flower" like on Tangled! Didn't know she could look so cute as a flower!

Emma's debut into the world...the Father's side of the Story.

A baby girl is a treasure rare;
A sweet pink angel, a little doll,
Nothing else can quite compare.
Her smiles and coos bring me joy;
She fills my heart with love and pleasure;
So I'll cherish these special infant times,
With my little girl, my precious treasure.

What can a father say that can describe in words of the experience when his precious baby girl came into the world...nothing, I was pretty much speechless. Many experiences in life will humble a man and I experienced just such an event on Friday, (December 30, 2011), something that brings me great amazement and wonder. Watching Emma come forth from the womb has changed my life forever!

Standing beside my best friend and eternal companion, holding her hand as she pushed and worked to bring our precious baby girl into this world, her head finally emerged covered in hair and before long Dr. Blackett had her entirely out, followed by her first breaths and cries; then I was able to cut the umbilical cord before she was laid on Mandy's chest. In those moments I was immediately overcome by the Spirit of the Lord, knowing that this precious soul who moments ago had come from His very presence was now being entrusted into our care...but, a peaceful assurance let me know that He was with us and will continue to be so every step of the way.

Very soon after, the transition nurse had me sponge-bathing the baby for her very first "bath." She taught me how to wash her hair and scrub it with the soft baby brush, we then wiped her body down and she was all clean.

I know that from those short moments in time, my life will never be the same and I am now a Daddy! I can't believe how quickly this day has come, but am grateful for it. Miracles still happen today and we were able to witness this wonderful life event. Emma LeAnn Anderson is our precious little angel and she's perfect. Even with some sleepless nights in the hospital, Mandy and I couldn't be happier and it is so fun to just watch our sweet princess thrive and grow. I can only hope that I will be the Dad she deserves and the father that my Father in Heaven has intended me to be. Life is great!
