4 Months Old!

Today, Emma turned 4 months old! Crazy!  What's new this month?
The Good:
  • She has consistently been sleeping through the night! Between 11-12 hours straight!
  • She smiles all the time now.  Anyone who talks to her...she'll smile.
  • She FINALLY laughed!!!  Yea!! It was SO cute.  She's been stubborn about laughing very much since then (a week ago) but we'll get there.
  • She "talks" a lot too.  We have some good conversations throughout the day.
  • She has a chair she sits in so I can get things done.  The flower in the middle makes music when you pull it.  She figured out how to pull it!  Smart girl!
The said chair
  • She likes to be thrown in the air.  It makes her smile and giggle.
  • She LOVES bath time (she cries as soon as you take her out).  Especially when you get her hands wet.  She likes to suck on them. A LOT.

The Bad:
  • She decided she didn't want to breastfeed anymore. :(  I cried for days.  She just would not latch any more.  She'd cry and cry because she was hungry but I could not get her to latch anymore to save my life.  It was a very sad moment for me.  But I can't starve my baby just because I want to breastfeed.  So she won.  Its actually been better for her though.  She doesn't throw/spit up near as much as she used to.  Her stomach/digestion has been doing better too.  It still makes me sad some days though.
  • She pees ALL the time.  We have to put a bigger diaper on her at night and she still pees through it.  I have to change her crib sheet like 3-5 times a week.  No me gusta.
  • She's trying to change her naps.  I used to get a good 1 1/2 - 2 hour nap out of her in the morning and a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon.  She's decided she likes 1/2 hour naps now.  I don't.  Somehow it will be fixed.  I hope. (any suggestions?)

The doctor visit:
How did we celebrate 4 months? By going to the doctor of course!
Her new:
  • weight: 13 lbs 11 oz (50th percentile - she's average)
  • height: 23 inches  (10th percentile  - she's short)
  • head: don't remember but its the 90th percentile!! - she has a big head :)
see her big head?
And you can't complete a doctor's visit without shots!
That was very, VERY sad.  Its the saddest cry you ever hear!  Makes you want to cry. (she did NOT look this content while getting shots. don't worry)

Overall? She's still pretty cute! :)

Peek-a-boo

Today we tried peek-a-boo.  Still no laughs...but we got some big smiles.
One day she'll laugh!

Our Week at Grandma's

So last week we (Emma and I) spent the week at my parent's house. It was spring break for my sister but she had a college class and couldn't leave town. But my dad had already taken the week off from work so they took off. Since Jackie is such a hard child being so rebellious and all (not really, she's actually a good kid) they asked me to come and watch her for a few days and then just spend the rest of the week with everyone! It was a great week! This is what we learned...
1. Emma does not like her port-a-crib/pack-'n-play (or whatever it's called). She started sleeping through the night before we left and that all went out the window our first night there. And we were there for 9 nights! 9! Don't get me wrong. I loved being there, but I dreaded night time. When Emma's at home she goes to bed around 7:30/8:00. At grandma's we could finally get her down about 9:30/10:00 (except the 2nd night...that was 11:00 - with with only 1 one hour nap that day...it was a rough day)
2. Emma likes to sleep on a soft blanket on the couch. This is where she would take her naps. Decent naps. Like 2-3 hour naps. I was tempted to just stick her there at night, but the risk of her suffocating was too great. :)
3. Tilly doesn't always want to bite Emma. She likes to sleep with her too.

4. Emma likes to watch TV with Grandpa. This is her staring at the TV. There were times when she'd just be watching and we'd try and turn her away. What did she do? She just turned her head back to the TV. So...every now and then we'd just stick her on Grandpa's lap. She'd sit nice and quiet for a while, so we just let the two of them have some bonding time. (Don't worry. We didn't let the TV babysit her. We just thought it was funny!)

5. She LOVES her Grandma. Grandma could always get her to smile and calm down. We got pictures taken while we were there. Who got her to smile? Grandma. When we would drive somewhere and she'd be screaming in the back seat because she's sick of being in the car, who would sing songs and calm her down (and not just in the car)? Grandma. (And Grandma loves her too)
(my mom would like me to point out that that is the same dress she wore at my wedding and she still fits it very nicely) ;)

6. Emma does not like the sun in her face. (We already knew this, but I thought this picture humorous...needless to say she was done taking Easter pictures)

7. She does not like to drink what Grandma drinks. And she doesn't like to drink what Mommy drinks.

8. Emma DOES like to drink what Daddy drinks.

9. Even though she was a bit of a stinker on this trip, she's still a cutie. And we still had fun at Grandma's house.
