7 Months Old

I realize I'm a day late, but this summer is crazy and is about to get crazier!  As much as I don't want school to start I'm almost ready for it just so things will get back to "normal."
Anyway, yes, Emma is now 7 months old.  My goodness how time flies! I realize I say that every time, but those are my honest thoughts.
So...this month

Food: Emma loves to eat anything you are eating.  Unless she is in her high chair she is constantly grabbing my plate or cup.  We've had some very close calls!  She drinks from a cup very well actually.  Unless she tries to tip it more and almost drowns herself!  As for baby food?  She's realized that fruits are much more sweet than vegetables so now she hates vegetables.  We try but she gives you this disgusted look, tries to swallow then gags it back up and spits it out.  So far the only vegetable she will still is is SWEET Potatoes.  Go figure.  You give her any fruit, however, and she has the jar gone in 5 minutes or less.
Teeth: No teeth yet, but her bottom 2 front buds are there and she's had days where you definitely know she's teething. I'm very nervous for when it comes full swing!

Sleep:  Oh goodness.  She is still sleeping through the night.  But still having troubles with self soothing.  We haven't had a consistent week home where we can really enforce this.  Again, I can't wait for life to calm down.  The other night though? I just wanted to cry.  She woke up at 1:50am and decided she was done sleeping and it was time to play.  After many MANY attempted tries of getting her to go back to sleep from both Tyler and I she finally cried (for 15 minutes) herself to sleep at 4:30am.  I was awake for 2 hours and 40 minutes with that child.  IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!  Then you think.."oh she at least slept in for you that morning." NOPE!  She was awake at 7:00!  And took normal naps throughout the day but luckily hasn't repeated the incident.  Crazy child.

Talking: She obviously can't talk yet but she loves to scream (happily).  This video is actually a very mild version of her screaming.  You should hear her in primary when the other kids are singing.  She out "sings" them all...combined!
 (Sorry for the orangey color!)
She's also been laughing more and more.  I swear it took us FOREVER to get her to laugh.  And now she gets very camera shy if she sees you filming.
(Again its not the best video or example, but its the best we could get)

Emma also firmly believes you should never be on your back (unless you are sleeping and its hot)  You have no idea how hard it was to get these pictures.  The only way I can change her diaper is either pinning her arms to the ground or making ridiculous noises.  And to get her dressed in the morning she has to be sitting up or she tries to fling herself off the changing table by rolling onto her stomach.  Sill girl.

I guess the good thing about rolling over is that she is starting to learn to crawl (I'm actually very scared for this as she is into EVERYTHING even when she can't move!  That may sound weird but if you know her you know exactly what I mean)
I have confidence she will be crawling in the next few weeks.  Again, I'm very scared.

Camping Part 2

Alright I obtained to rest of the pictures from camping....

Here we are at the hotsprings...

Emma didn't hate it, but it wasn't her favorite thing.  She preferred to sit on the ledge where only her feet and partially her legs were in the water.

She did enjoy her bath though...

Wish i could have had one!

Family Camping Trip

Last week we took our traditional week long family camping trip in Wyoming.  In the past a week long camping trip has seemed pretty long, but this year went by really fast!  And it was really fun!  I twas great to spend time with the fam and escape the heat!  I am greatly looking forward to fall when there won't be any more 100+ degree weather anymore!
Anyway...here are some documentation of our week:
Emma was a GREAT camper.  I was SHOCKED!!! (can I emphasize that enough?)  Usually she's kind of a pill (at night mostly) when we travel so we were REALLY worried going camping with her.  Especially since you sleep in a thin tent where you can hear almost anything and almost anything can hear you.  But she did SO good!  She slept just like she does at home...through the night!  If she woke up a little to early we'd just feed her and hold her and she'd go back to sleep for a while.  It was lovely.

Emma also loves camping chairs.  She loved to crawl all over them and especially suck on the arms.  Weird kid.  Luckily Grandma indulged her.

It was obviously cold in the mornings up there (which was actually a little nice...unless you were Davis who hadn't been in anything below like 90 degrees in 2 years) so luckily I found this cute little thing hanging in Emma's closet.  I got it at one of my baby showers and never used it because A: if it was THAT cold inthe winter in Logan I just didn't leave the house with her and B: it was 3-6 months and wouldn't have fit anyway.  So, luckily Emma is a petite little thing (except her head) and still had room to grow in this!
We called it "the pink nightmare."  If you've ever seen "A Christmas Story" you'll know why we started calling it that.  If you haven't seen the movie you really should.  I mean its a Christmas classic!
Emma obviously "loved" her outfit.  Haha!  No, really she hated it.  She couldn't really move and couldn't put her arms down!  But it kept her warm and she'll thank me for it one day.

The boys went fishing the first day.  Look at them all excited!
From Left to Right: my uncle Whitney, Tyler, Davis, Dad, then cousins Landon and Braden

And guess who caught the fish?!
Never mind the size of the fish.

Then we spent a day-ish in Jackson Hole.  We got ice cream (yum!), and got more ice for the coolers.  But we also stopped to take pictures in front of this cool arch!
The whole family!  Haven't had one of these pics in 2 years!

Can you believe all these antlers?!
Where we camped there was also a hot springs just a mile up the road.  Unfortunately my camera decided to die before we went swimming so I don't have any pictures of that...unless my mom sends me some...then I suppose I can post those! :)
All in all though we had a great time!  It was SO nice to just have a relaxing week and have people help out with Emma!  Unfortunately that comes with a price as well and she was EXTREMELY spoiled as she was never set down, so this week I'm trying to "detox" and get her used to not being held ALL THE TIME again.  Not an easy task.  Believe me.

Our 4th of July

So again...I'm updating (a week late).  We had a fun 4th of July.  We went down to my parents house and were able see my Grandma and Grandpa May which was fun especially since they hadn't met Emma yet!  We had fun going out to breakfast that morning (which is where Emma banged her head against the table and got the mark under her eye...the day before pictures I might add!)
(she wouldn't look straight at me...the tv was on)

Emma also tried to eat a watermelon while we were there...a whole watermelon.

She wasn't too impressed with fireworks...but probably because she had to stay up late to see them and was very tired.  But at least she didn't try to grab them like Jackie did when she was little!

And of course she was very, VERY spoiled by her grandma. :)

6 Months Old!

Oh my goodness!  So my friend just had her baby and I was talking to her a few weeks ago and said that the first 2 months go by really slow (at least they did for me) then after that they just fly by!

Emma had her doctors appointment last week.  She is still in the 50th percentile for weight at 16 lbs 1 oz.  She grew!...and is now in the 25th percentile for height (as apposed to 10th percentile) at 25 1/4 inches.  And she is still in the 90th percentile for her head...yes...she does have a big head.  One day the rest of her body will grow into it.
A few things about Emma...
Tummy vs. Back - Emma HATES to be laid on her back...the minute you lay her down she either cries or immediately rolls over...as you can see.

She's even started sleeping either on her side or on her back.  Probably because its cooler that way...but you never know.
Sleep - she still sleeps through the night...thank goodness.  Usually 11 hours.  12 if we're lucky (or last night when she slept 13!).  However she got out of the habit of self-soothing and would only go to sleep if you rocked her to sleep.  Not that I don't enjoy that but then you lay her down and she freaks out until you rock her to sleep again and again until she finally stays asleep.  So now we are trying the the whole rock her til she's drowsy but still slightly awake then lay her down and let her cry for 5 minutes, then soothe, then 10 minutes, then soothe and so on method.  We were doing good...then we went to visit family and that just got shot in the dark so we're back to starting it again.  Hopefully it works fast.  She's already doing a little better on day 2!

Food:  She loves food.  She likes most all of the baby food we give her except for peas and carrots.  She's still thinking about bananas.  But she LOVES peaches, mixed fruit, apples, sweet potatoes and prunes (weird I know!) oh and Popsicles.and she likes squash, and sometimes bananas.  And she prefers Oatmeal over Rice cereal.  The doctor suggested we start doing egg yolks and pureed meat (sound disgusting to me) so we'll work on that.
She also LOVES to drink from a cup.  You can be feeding her her bottle and she will push it away and try and steal your cup.  Basically anything you are drinking she feels it should be hers.

Play - She still prefers to be held over all else.  If you are sitting next her and watching her play then she's fine, but the minute you stand up she freaks out.  She DOES NOT like to be left alone or feel like you are going to leave her alone.  Also, even sitting down with her on your lap can only last for so long.  The minute you stand up though she's as happy as can be and acts like she did not just throw a fit.

Movement - she can now sit alone...thank goodness.  She has also just found her feet in the last 2 weeks and loves to grab them and try and stick them in her mouth.  She obviously rolls over both ways, but prefers to roll onto her belly (unless she is sleeping) then she turns.  Whichever way you are she turns around in a circle until she can see you.  I really believe it is only a matter of weeks until she starts crawling.  Yikes!

Teeth? - Nope! Not yet...but she has her two bottom buds starting and every now and then she has a day where all she will eat is popsicles.  I'm a little scared for when her teething comes full swing.  She's a lot like me...she doesn't handle pain very well.  Even if she is sitting and falls back she starts screaming!

But we still love her and think she's adorable.

And getting SO big!!

Davis is home!...with Pictures!

So I FINALLY got my camera back and can now upload pictures...sorry for the bombardment but I have to show pictures of Davis' homecoming! And then I'll do I separate post with Emma's 6 month update...so you don't feel SO overwhelmed!
So...Davis has been home for about 2 1/2 weeks!  He's adjusting very well.  It did take us a while to get him to wear "normal" clothes...but we did and he's even changed his style slightly!  He looks good...so if you know anyone going to BYU-I in the fall I'll give you his number! ;)
Anyway...here are the awesome t-shirts!

Yes...we did wear them through the airport and yes we did get some looks...jealous looks!

His plane landed at like 6:15...he didn't come down til about 6:45...apparently the sister missionaries wanted them all to come down together then took 20 minutes in the bathroom getting ready.  Whatever :)

You can tell he's so excited to hug me...or have me hug him!

Emma loves her Uncle Davis!

Except when he's not paying attention to her!

Davis also brought Emma back a little Nicaraguan outfit.
My dad calls it her "Pebbles Flinstone" outfit!

And here she is with Grandpa D.  She loves her Great Grandpa D!  (no really...she is also very tired here as it was LONG past her bedtime!)

It has been SO fun to see Davis again...and watch him adjust!  He was very impressed with how clean the United States is and how organized the Atlanta airport is!  He was also very excited to see carpet...that was the first thing he noticed when he got home.
He also is very impressed with how soft the toilet paper is...and hates to waste it!  His first night home he came into Jackie's room with some toilet paper.  He remarked how soft it was and Jackie asked why he had some in his hand and he replied that he had accidentally ripped off too much and didn't want to waste it! :)
He was also impressed that we never run out of water or power for very long and he didn't need to sleep with his flashlight.  He still has having a hard time sleeping with a pillow though!  :)
