8 Weeks Old!

Today our "little Emma" is 8 weeks old!

And this is how we celebrated...


We went to the doctor...and got shots.
And this is how she looked...only worse...


Poor thing. On the bright side she is growing!
She's a short one! She is now 21 inches long (2 inches since birth) which puts her in the 10th percentile. She's gained though! She is now 10 lbs and 6 oz (ALMOST 4 lbs since birth but not quite). She's definitely a cutie!


And we love her! :)

Help!

So Emma has decided she wants to be difficult and spoiled. She has decided not to sleep unless she is being held. Last night for example. I got her to go to sleep at her bedtime. I held her for a little longer to make sure she was good and asleep and then put her in her crib. 20 minutes later, she wakes up. I go in and put her binkie back in her mouth and she stays for another 5 mintues before she starts crying. So I pick her up and she grabs onto my shirt with both fists! I get her back to sleep and then when Tyler got home I made him hold her. We put her back in her crib when we went to bed and again, 20 minutes later she wakes up...screaming (our couple prayer was cut short)! So I gave up and she slept with us last night.
This morning we wake up and Tyler gets ready for school while I make his lunch. Emma was sleeping just fine so we left her in the middle of the bed. 5 minutes later I guess she realized she was alone and woke up!
Nap time today...I've layed her down 3 different times...in 3 different places and she STILL wakes herself up within 5 mintues. So I pick her up and she falls back to sleep! (I'm typing this one handed).
HELP! If you have any suggestions or know what to do...I would REALLY appreciate any advice. Next nap time I'll try laying her on her stomach...we'll see if that works.

7 Weeks Old

My cute little baby is 7 weeks old today! She is growing so fast! This week we've moved her up to size 1 diapers and have stopped using some of her newborn clothing. Which I am a little sad about. :( But we still have some cute outfits to look forward too.
She's doing better with her reflux. Had a big problem last weekend so Tyler gave her a blessing and things have been on the up since then. Thank heavens for the Priesthood.
She's been doing better at night too! For that past 3 nights she had slept for a 5-6 hour stretch! It's been wonderful! And she actually went to bed on time once this week!
She's staying awake more in the day and is starting to respond when you talk to her.
She's a doll...and a stinker too. She likes to smile at you after she poops. If she knows mom and dad are still awake she feels she should be too. And if its after 6:30 in the morning she feels she should be in bed with mom and dad until they get up. She grunts at you if you make noise while she's sleeping and decides she wants to be held when you really need to get something done. The joys of parenthood. But we love it!

Sunday Best

We put Emma in her Valentine's Day dress for church today. She looked so cute we had to post pictures. :)

I couldn't get her to look at me. :(
Oh well. At least her eyes are open!

My Baby is 6 Weeks Old!

Emma is 6 Weeks Old today! Crazy How fast time flies!


This week went better! Emma woke up on average twice a night and I was only awake for 20-30 minutes with feeding her and getting her back to sleep. (Thank you for your suggestions last week!)


Poor baby though. Her reflux seems to have escalated. This morning she'd eat a little and slowly spit/throw it all back up. This afternoon she did better though. She only spit up a little and managed to keep the majority down. She starting to cry more when she spits up though. Poor thing. Hopefully she outgrows this soon.

Emma's Blessing

Last Sunday we blessed Emma. It was such a neat experience. Tyler gave a beautiful blessing. We definitely have a special little girl.

It was a little hectic at church though! We were number 5 of 6 baby blessings that day! Well...I guess we were really 4th since the real #4 didn't show up! But can you imagine 5 baby blessings in one day? Ya. There was about 15 minutes left for testimonies after everything! Our baby was the cutest one though. :)
I wasn't able to get a lot of pictures on my camera, so that's why there aren't a lot, but as soon as I get a hold of my dad's camera I can post more. :)

5 Weeks Old

Today Emma is 5 Weeks old.
New this week? She hates me at night.
She has now decided instead of waking up twice a night she now likes to wake up 3 times a night! And I thought it was supposed to get better. She has also decided she now doesn't like her crib. After I feed her she will fall asleep in my arms. The second her bum touches the crib mattress - she wakes up. And she won't put herself back to sleep (once in a while if I'm lucky). She'll sit and squeal and whine, give herself the hiccups, and then cry until I pick her up again. THEN 1 minute later she's back to sleep...until I put her back in her crib. This happened 4 times last night!


She's also decided she likes to "snack." She won't eat, she'll snack. She'll feed for about 5 minutes, fall asleep, then 20 minutes later decide she's hungry again and snack. I was up for about 2 hours straight last night between feeding her, changing her diaper and trying to get her to sleep in her crib! Ahh! I'll admit I broke down and cried for a little of that!
But she's cute, so I still love her. :) Let's just hope next week brings better news. Any suggestions?
